Hi, I'm Emma!

The dyer behind Yarnbarf. Situated in the heart of Staffordshire, Yarnbarf is more than just me in my small kitchen; it's a labour of love and an unending fascination with the art of dyeing.

Yarnbarf was born out of a love for fibre arts and yarn. From a young age, I've been enchanted by the textures, colours, and the versatility of yarn. Whether it was knitting, crocheting, or simply admiring a beautifully crafted garment, yarn has always held a special place in my heart. One day, I decided to take my passion a step further and dive into the world of dyeing. What started as a personal experiment quickly evolved into Yarnbarf, a brand dedicated to bringing you luxurious, hand-dyed yarns.

Every piece you see is hand-dyed in my small kitchen in Staffordshire. I currently have one dye pan and dye between 2-4 skeins at a time, so it's very much small batch, one-of-a-kind. The dyeing process is a blend of weirdness, where I combine various dyeing techniques to create unique colourways. Using high-quality dyes and luxury wool bases, each batch is carefully crafted to ensure vibrant, long-lasting colours. The joy of seeing a plain skein transform into a canvas of colour is why I love what I do and I am thrilled to share this joy with you through my creations.

At Yarnbarf, we believe in using only the finest materials. Our wool bases are sourced from trusted suppliers who share our commitment to quality and sustainability. All of our merino is mulesing free where animal and environmental welfare is paramount.

Inspiration for our colourways comes from a variety of sources - nature, art, music and even everyday life. I love experimenting with colours and patterns, often letting the dyes lead the way.

One of the most rewarding aspects of being in the fibre arts space, is the fibre community. I love seeing how my yarns inspire your projects and bring your creative visions to life. Whether you're a knitter, crocheter, or simply a lover of beautiful yarn.

Follow me on social media for updates, behind-the-scenes glimpses, and to share your amazing creations. I love to see what you're working on!

Thank you so much for visiting and supporting my small business. Each purchase means the world to me and allows me to continue doing what I love. I am grateful for every customer and every skein that finds a new home.

Happy crafting,

Emma x
