What's next for Yarnbarf? - Yarnbarf

What's next for Yarnbarf?

It’s been a while since I last posted or updated the shop, so I wanted to take a moment to share what’s been happening behind the scenes — and where Yarnbarf is headed next.

Over the past year, I have disappeared from existence. This was for a couple of reasons - burnout and my full-time job.  As much as I love dyeing yarn, the pressure, the constant hustle for visibility, and the slow online sales gradually drained my enthusiasm. Eventually, I stepped back simply because I didn’t have anything left to offer.

Taking that break, though, gave me something I didn’t realise I needed: perspective. With time away, I was able to reflect on what I truly enjoy about creating and what I want Yarnbarf to become moving forward.

One thing became clear very quickly — I love dyeing yarn, but I don’t love dyeing everything. My happiest dye days were always the ones spent working with super chunky yarn. The big, squishy skeins, the bold colour, the instant transformation… it’s the base that brings me the most joy creatively. I also love knitting with 4ply and DK, but when it comes to dyeing, super chunky is where my excitement really sparks.

So, in the interest of keeping things sustainable for myself — and making sure Yarnbarf continues to grow in a direction I can fully stand behind — I’ll be niching down for now. Super chunky bases will be my priority going forward. If things pick back up and you would like a wider range again, I’m completely open to bringing back other bases in the future. But for the moment, focusing on what I love feels like the right step.

I’m excited to return with a clearer vision and a renewed sense of purpose. Thank you to everyone who has supported me, and is also still here reading this!

I’m looking forward to sharing new colourways, updates, and a fresh chapter for Yarnbarf.

To make space for what’s coming, all remaining yarn and stitch markers are now 40% off.
If you’d like to support this new beginning — or grab a few final skeins before they’re gone — you can shop the sale now!

Happy crafting,
